About me

I like to work with people where I can capture and portray some essence of their lives and personalities. My work is often experimental, seeking to find something which is not always possible to find using conventional photography.

I've been creating my 'joiners' and other related works since 1997. They are inspired from many sources, but special mention must be made to Hockney's 'joiner images', the Surrealists, Picasso and the Cubist movement in general, who were the catalyst for my interest in this area.

The 'joiner/collage' method allows me to escape the photographic constraint, of only being able to capture that fleeting moment, for which the camera shutter is open. The long and often intricate piecing together process allows me time for reflection, re-shoots and any adjustments.

The 'joiners' let me explore space, form and colour, while increasing the size and impact of work; this allows a broad range of ideas into my work. I use conventional & digital photography, separately or together to obtain a variety of different objectives. This gives me the flexibility to meet the needs of any brief.

Make people stop and stare
